TEDxSydney has chalked a record level of sponsorship support for the second year in a row, adding new partners including Qantas and Toyota Prius to its already formidable portfolio.

Toyota Prius joins returning sponsors Optus and oOh! Media as second-tier leadership partners, below co-principal partners St George Bank and the University of Sydney.

St George enters its second year of a three-year contract as the event's major sponsor. The Westpac subsidiary will provide $100,000 in grants to four winners of its 'Kick Start' program, with the program's 12 finalists to pitch at the event.

TEDxSydney head of partnerships, Kate Dezarnaulds, said sponsors were increasingly collaborating with the event to jointly-create content.

Global professional services firm JLL, Qantas and cloud software firm Rackspace have all signed on as event partners for the first time, alongside existing partners TFE Hotels and Viocorp.

Other new partners include Fairfax's Sydney Morning Herald, which has replaced The Guardian as media partner, and IT commercialisation firm AlphaSys.

The event's youth-focused platform, TEDxYouth@Sydney, will return for a second year, supported by the University of Sydney and oOh!'s 'digital campus', Hijacked.

A single-day, satellite event of the popular non-profit education body TED, the Sydney affiliate is held at the Sydney Opera House every May. It is one of the largest TEDx events globally, with more than 20 million hits on speeches delivered at TEDxSydney.
