One of Australia's foremost sponsorship and sports marketing experts and the CEO of Suncorp Super Netball's inaugural championship team have joined August's Sponsorship News Brisbane conference line-up.

University of Queensland senior lecturer Dr Sarah Kelly and Sunshine Coast Lightning CEO Danielle Smith will both provide unique insights to the sponsorship industry at the half-day conference, to be held at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre.

Dr Kelly is currently a senior lecturer in law and marketing at UQ, where she has worked extensively in the fields of sponsorship measurement, ambush marketing, consumer behaviour and sports law and governance. She has written extensively on best-practice sponsorship measurement, and will bring a global perspective to the challenges of ROI.

As a director of the AFL's Brisbane Lions, Dr Kelly chairs the Lions' marketing and branding sub-committee and was involved in the successful launch of the club's AFL Women's team, which was the inaugural champion of the new league. Dr Kelly has also been instrumental in the formation of 'Women of the Pride', the club's female business network.

Danielle Smith is uniquely placed to discuss the challenges and opportunities of Australia's evolving sports landscape. Danielle has been with NRL powerhouse the Melbourne Storm since 2011 holding various roles include chief operating officer and CFO, and has been a board director since 2014. Smith is also the foundation CEO of the Sunshine Coast Lightning, which last month became the first-ever champion of Netball Australia's Suncorp Super Netball competition.

Smith will discuss how the Lightning went from a Sunshine Coast start-up to the competition's first-ever winner, the proposition of the Storm-Lightning becoming one of Australia's first 'multi-sport' super clubs, and the implications for sponsors.

Both Kelly and Smith also bring a unique skill-set to discuss the surging popularity of women's sport, and where the opportunities in that space lie.

They join senior executives from CUA, Hyundai, Nielsen Sports, the Brisbane Heat and Advanced Sponsorship Marketing in speaking at the event. Tickets are available now: get yours here
