Fledgling telco MATE has signed sponsorships with two A-League clubs, a Premier League footballer and wrestling promoter WWE's upcoming Australian event as part of an aggressive new marketing campaign.

The western Sydney-based mobile and internet provider unveiled three sponsorships last week, including a co-major deal with the A-League’s Central Coast Mariners.

MATE will feature on the front of jersey during all Mariners away games in the 2019-20 season, with its first appearance at last weekend’s narrow loss against the Western Sydney Wanderers. The logo will also be on the lower-back of Central Coast’s home kit.

The telco has also signed a three-year partnership with the Wanderers – both deals will see MATE run a series of exclusive offers and promotions to the fanbases of the two A-League clubs. MATE will also sponsor the Wanderers’ weekly team news.

The pair of deals follow MATE’s first alliance, signed with Socceroos and Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan, who has since starred in a series of brand advertisements.

In a further signing, MATE becomes an official partner of WWE Australia and its three coming ‘WWE Live’ events in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. That partnership will also include a ‘money-can’t-buy’ promotion for existing MATE customers.

Wanderers secure Ola deal

The MATE partnership is the second for the Wanderers in as many days, following  a wide-ranging agreement with rideshare firm, Ola.

The new season is the Wanderers’ first at the new Bankwest Stadium, and Ola Australia managing director, Simon Smith, said the boost from the new venue was key to the deal.

“Western Sydney is the fastest growing economic region in Australia and the brand new stadium in Parramatta, Bankwest Stadium, is a great opportunity for us to partner with the Wanderers to enhance fans' experience of getting to and from games using Ola,” he said.

Ola will offer Wanderers members and fans a $10 discount on their first two rides as part of the deal. There will also be a dedicated rideshare zone opposite Bankwest Stadium.

The partnership will kick off later this month with a ‘Beat the Ola’ in-stadium activation. Wanderers fans will get the chance to win a signed Wanderers jersey by chasing an LED car around the perimeter signage.
